Critical factors in Trauma Recovery

Trauma takes many different forms and affects everyone differently. Depending upon the type of trauma one endures will determine the trauma recover time.

There are many different types of trauma that can affect not only our lives, but the lives of those around us. This includes our family, friends and children. Everyone will react differently to a crisis. In order for trauma recovery to occur, however, the crisis has to be faced.

Sexual assault can be the most traumatic event that can happen, especially to a woman. Many women are ashamed of admitting such a trauma. As a result, they rarely experience full trauma recovery. By pushing the event into the back of the mind, they do not heal themselves.

In order to experience trauma recovery from such a horrific event such as sexual assault, a woman must first come to terms as to what happened. She must confide in someone and tell them the story. Once she does this, the burden is somewhat relieved.

Full trauma recovery may never be possible for such an individual, but trauma recovery can occur if the woman recognizes the fact that she was not at fault and has nothing to be ashamed of. Once she comes to terms with the truth, she can then start on the road to trauma recovery.

Those who experience a severe trauma in their lives may act as if there is nothing wrong, but may experience tremendous pain in private. Talking about the trauma to a friend and seeking counseling is the only way to lead to trauma recovery.
